Lights Out and Happy Birthday

2am Friday morning there was a terrible storm and the power went out. It was Gabriel's last day of school so I got him ready anyway. When we drove to the school half of the road out was washed away and just giant rocks were left. We arrived to an empty parking lot and a sign saying school was closed. I told Gabriel and asked if he was okay. He said, "We'll, it is boring to not have gym." It wasn't boring for long. We got to do presents first thing when Bridget woke up instead of waiting all day.

Green presents because that's her favorite color

Packing without power
Gabriel's school spider Web. Red of course.
Gabriel was so cute. After school on Wednesday he told me he had a surprise for me. He pulled out this paper and a little black box at the end he opened the box and dumped out a spider made out of a pipe cleaner. It was so great and his smile and giggles made me happy. On Thursday his class made pumpkins float. Gabriel said even the big ones floated because they were hollow inside.

This girl is 3!

Cleaning out the car so we can pack it.
Taking the phone away from the budding birthday photographer.
Bridget came with me to run errands. We had to wait a little both ways as they fixed the road.
I turned the car so she could see.
That night we still didn't have power so we couldn't cook Bridget's frozen pizza's.  We did the 45 minute drive to Mcdonald's instead.
I love when my girls hug.
That night we made the kids a little cave under their bunk bed and it kept them quite warm. But with the toilets not flushing and the cold we decided to pack up to go on Saturday. Saturday I drove down to the post office and used someone's phone to call the power company. They said not to expect power until tomorrow possibly monday. So we got the car all packed, the house as clean as we could without light or water, drove to the laundry mat and on the way there we saw the men fixing our power. I made Sean laugh when I told them, "Oh bless you!" In a voice of pure joy. Ahhhh sweet power. Then we went to the goodbye dinner Sean's coworker's house and that was a lot of fun. My favorite part was coming back and seeing a few lights on inside.
